XIA-3
XIA-3 is a boundary-pushing instrumental fusion project from Newfoundland, seamlessly blending traditional Chinese influences with the dynamic rhythms of Western post-rock. Formed in 2022, the trio features guzheng virtuoso Dr. Jing Xia, alongside renowned St. John’s punk rockers Ritche Perez on baritone guitar, and Brian Downton on drums. Their dynamic sound has earned them widespread recognition, including "Instrumental Artist of the Year" and "Rising Star of the Year" at the 2023 MusicNL Awards. XIA-3’s music is a powerful meeting of cultures and genres—unexpected, electrifying, and deeply immersive.
